Moisture meters are available with either a digital or analog display. Analog displays convey data manually, but digital displays employ electronics to exchange data. In general, the presence of electronics increases the likelihood of errors. That is why, in harsh, outdoor environments, we normally prefer an analog tool. Analog moisture meters are more durable than digital moisture meters since they don't have as many intricate, fragile pieces that can be damaged by the weather.
The only exception is if you wish to put up a smart system to monitor the health of your plants. Smart moisture meters can provide useful information about how much water and sunlight your plant receives over time. This can assist you in better understanding your growth circumstances, particularly if you are moving into a new home or developing a garden in a different area of your yard or home.
Length of the Scope
Moisture meter scopes can be as small as a few inches long or as large as two feet. The size you'll need is determined by the plants you're growing, the growth circumstances you're in, and your budget.

How to Test the Moisture Content of Your Cannabis
Marijuana's moisture content is an important number to know. However, when buds are dried, cured, and packaged, the percentage of buds that change is largely unknown and subjective.
When it came to measuring a specific sample, few growers were even willing to speculate about what the ideal moisture content for cannabis should be. Autoclimate control is another method processors use in order to maintain the right amount of humidity (and temperature) in the drying, curing and storage areas.
To find out how much moisture is in a sample, weigh a small amount and bake it at 30 degrees Celsius for a few minutes until it is crisp and dry. To get the percentage of moisture in the wet material, measure the difference between its pre-oven and post-oven weights, and divide that number by the original wet material's weight.
Dry, un-manicured buds were weighed out, then baked in a low-temperature oven to crisp up. When they were weighed again, the difference between their pre-treatment and post-treatment weights was 8.5 grams. The percentage of moisture in the un-treated bud is calculated by dividing 8.5 by the original bud's weight.

Using a Moisture Meter
Two types of moisture meters are available. The type that comes with two probes that are about two centimeters apart and stick out less than one centimeter is the best.
When using the "softwood" setting on the meter, the most precise readings are obtained. Use a hard plastic piece to hold the material firmly against the pad; the readout takes about a second.
Despite the fact that the measurement may not be completely accurate, it can still be used as a standard. There is a widely held belief that a joint with a 12 percent water content is ideal for smoking. Also, it's the percentage of small sticks that sound like they're snapping.
